URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Buffalo NY 154 PM EST Fri Jan 3 2025 ...LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM EST SUNDAY... * WHAT...Moderate lake effect snow. Additional snow accumulations 8 to 15 inches in the most persistent lake snows, spread out over the next several days. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph will produce areas of blowing and drifting snow. * WHERE...Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Southern Erie Counties. The greatest snowfall will be across the higher terrain inland from Lake Erie, south of the Buffalo Southtowns. * WHEN...Until 6 PM EST Sunday. * IMPACTS...Travel will be difficult at times with snow covered roads. Areas of blowing snow will significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions will impact the Friday evening commute. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Moderate snow will fall in relatively narrow bands. If traveling, be prepared for rapidly changing road conditions and visibilities. Submit snow reports through our website or social media.
