URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Lincoln IL 158 AM CST Fri Jan 3 2025 .A winter storm is targeting portions of the lower Midwest between Saturday night and Monday evening, bringing travel impacts directly to portions of central and southeast Illinois. ...WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM LATE SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY MORNING... * WHAT...Heavy snow of 10+ inches is likely. Additionally, a band of accumulating flat ice of one to two tenths of an of an inch is possible. Blustery north winds will occasionally gust between 20-30 mph, potentially leading to blowing and drifting snow across East-West highways, as well as sporadic power outages. * WHERE...Portions of central, east central, southeast, and west central Illinois. Ice accumulations will be confined to areas along and south of Interstate 70. * WHEN...From late Saturday night through Monday morning. * IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning commute. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
