URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Gaylord MI 251 PM EST Tue Dec 3 2024 ...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM THIS EVENING TO 7 PM EST WEDNESDAY... * WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations from 8 to 15 inches. Winds gusting 30 to 40 mph from the Southwest. Blowing and drifting snow will be likely. * WHERE...Portions of Eastern Upper and Northern Lower Michigan. * WHEN...From 7 PM this evening to 7 PM EST Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and blowing snow. The strong winds and weight of snow on tree limbs may down power lines and could cause sporadic power outages. Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday morning and evening commutes. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
