Coastal Hazard Message National Weather Service New York NY 524 PM EDT Thu Sep 19 2024 ...COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON TO 4 PM EDT FRIDAY... * WHAT...One to locally two feet of inundation above ground level expected in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline. * WHERE...Northern Queens County. * WHEN...From noon to 4 PM EDT Friday. * COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...Minor flooding in the more vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline. Some roads and low lying properties including parking lots, parks, lawns, and homes and businesses with basements near the waterfront will experience minor flooding. Localized moderate flooding is possible Friday and Saturday afternoons with more extensive flooding. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Additional rounds of coastal flooding around the times high tide can be expected through at least the weekend. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth.
