Air Quality Alert Message Washington State Department of Ecology Relayed by National Weather Service Pendleton OR 1138 AM PDT Fri Jul 26 2024 ...AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE... An Air Quality Alert has been issued for all of Yakima, Benton, Klickitat, Walla Walla, and Columbia counties due to expected smoke from nearby and regional wildfires. Particulate matter (PM2.5) may reach Unhealthy or Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups levels. Pollutants in smoke can cause burning eyes...runny nose...aggravate heart and lung diseases...and aggravate other serious health problems. Limit outdoor activities and keep children indoors if it is smoky. Please follow medical advice if you have a heart or lung condition. Health Impacts and Recommended Actions: When air quality is Unhealthy, everyone should reduce exposure. When air quality is Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups, sensitive groups should take steps to reduce exposure. Limit time outside, avoid strenuous outdoor activity, and follow tips for cleaner indoor air. Everyone should watch for symptoms as a sign to reduce exposure.
