URGENT - FIRE WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Wakefield VA 435 AM EDT Wed Mar 20 2024 ...RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM THIS MORNING TO 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING FOR PORTIONS OF CENTRAL AND SOUTHEAST VIRGINIA... * AFFECTED AREA...Much of central and southeast Virginia * TIMING...10 AM this morning through 8 pm this evening. * WINDS...West 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 20 to 25 percent. * TEMPERATURES...Upper 60s to around 70. * IMPACTS...Dry and breezy conditions will support adverse fire behavior allowing fires to spread rapidly. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now....or will shortly. A combination of strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
