URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Binghamton NY 212 PM EST Wed Feb 28 2024 ...LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 10 PM THIS EVENING TO 7 PM EST THURSDAY... * WHAT...Heavy lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches will be common, with 7 to 11 inches in the heaviest band. Winds gusting over 35 mph may lead to near- blizzard conditons at times. * WHERE...Onondaga, Madison and Southern Oneida counties. * WHEN...From 10 PM this evening to 7 PM EST Thursday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Very strong winds Wednesday evening will begin to diminish somewhat as the lake effect snow bands become more organized.
