URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Great Falls MT 802 PM MDT Tue May 7 2024 ...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT MDT WEDNESDAY NIGHT... * WHAT...Wet snow expected. Additional snow accumulations between 2 and 4 inches on foothills, between 6 and 12 inches on mountain passes. Winds gusting as high as 55 mph. * WHERE...Elkhorn and Boulder Mountains and Upper Blackfoot and MacDonald Pass. * WHEN...Until midnight MDT Wednesday Night. * IMPACTS...Travel could be difficult and tire chains may be required for some vehicles. Those in the backcountry should ensure they have appropriate knowledge and gear and may want to consider alternate plans. Periods of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The combination of wet snow and strong winds could cause damage to trees and power lines. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Slow down and use caution while traveling.
